Planning Department
The Planning Department's two major areas of emphasis are project review and long range planning. Project review consists of working with applicants, the public and City decision-makers to ensure that all new development proposals are consistent with the Langley Comprehensive Plan, Shoreline Master Program and Development Regulations. Long range planning is focused on care and maintenance of the City's comprehensive plan and development regulations as the primary tools for expressing how Langley will grow over the next 20 years and beyond.
The Planning Department bears primary responsibility for staffing the Planning
Advisory Board (PAB) and Design Review Board
(DRB), for creating and updating maps such as zoning and critical areas, for interpreting the development regulations as they apply to private property and for maintaining land use-related records.
